Payment Method
TaxJar offers several payment methods. Many states are moving towards Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) for sales tax payments. ACH Debit and ACH Credit are popular forms of EFT. In an ACH Debit transaction, the state taxing authority pulls money from your account. In an ACH Credit transaction, your bank pushes money to the institution's bank account. ACH Debit transactions are typically free, while ACH Credit transfers often come with a fee of up to $3.
For example, Arizona requires most taxpayers to pay via EFT. If a taxpayer elects not to, they'll be hit with a 5% penalty.
TaxJar also integrates with Square and PayPal. When you select your preferred subscription plan, you'll be sent to Square to enter your billing information. Square accepts all major credit and debit cards.
For PayPal, all it takes is a single click to link up TaxJar to your PayPal store. Your PayPal account is now synced with TaxJar and will update on a daily basis.
Please note that payment information can be surprisingly hard to find outside of the privacy of a state's taxpayer portal. It's recommended to contact your state's taxing authority or the respective payment platform for the most accurate and up-to-date information.
Remember, always ensure to check the payment methods accepted by your state and be prepared to begin paying via EFT if required. It's also important to be aware of any potential fees associated with different payment methods.
